The horrifying news about the murder of my fellow Chileans in Florida leaves us wondering why a 60-year old man would shoot five students in their apartment. Will the world get any safer? The world’s economic crisis will increase crime and other social issues worldwide.
Here are some tips to cope with crime:
-Vent your feelings with a friend or a family member. Express your emotions
-Take care of your body: rest, eat healthy, exercise moderately
-Regain control of your life by making small decisions
-Go back to your routine as soon as possible
-Visit a victim crime counselor
-Find support with family, church, friends, etc. Don’t isolate yourself
-And most important: never blame yourself, it can happen to anyone
