Throughout this week, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams will take a look at issues facing Hispanic Americans in a new series, “We The People.” The series will include reports on efforts to capitalize on the rapid growth of the Hispanic population, health issues among the Hispanic community, challenges surrounding education, and the struggle first generation immigrant families are facing in the current economic crisis. Dos Lives has talked about these issues either on the Web site or the podcast, and we’re anxious to watch this week’s portrayal of Latino life here in the U.S.
Don´t forget to set your DVR or you can watch the entire series as well as extended and web-only interviews on nightly.msnbc.com, where NBC producers will share behind the scenes reporting as well as some of their insights on their blog.
Telemundo will simultaneously air two segments from the series, including a report on efforts by the Boy Scouts of America to recruit more Hispanic members, and a profile of a Stanford-educated former migrant worker who now works to increase the role of Hispanics in the medical profession.
Tonight, NBC reporter Lee Cowan will profile a family in Wisconsin, to illustrate the change in landscape in the United States. Be sure to leave comments and let us know what you think.
