Today, I got up late for work and while dragging myself to the bathroom I thought what many of you may think before going to work “I don’t want to go to work.” I was debating between calling in sick or not. I finally went and stayed four hours and managed to leave early, thanks to my flexible and nice supervisor! While driving home, I called a friend, one of those friends that knows everything about you, even how often you go to the bathroom! She said “You always do whatever you want at work!” That’s not exactly true, but I cannot deny that I have a lot of flexibility because of my nice supervisor. I thought about writing this because not many people are lucky to have a caring and flexible boss. In fact, many people struggles when it comes to deal with them and wishe to have another job.

Quitting your job might not be the best option right now, so what can you do? Go to work and be miserable? You have two options: wishing everyday that your boss gets sick and can’t work or building a positive relationship with the monster. I’ll focus on how to build a good relationship because wishing someone will get sick won’t take you very far. Here are the tips:

First of all, you must embrace the belief that you have the power to influence people when you feel positive. The key word here is FEEL. When you feel positive, you uplift others. Your mere presence would create a warm atmosphere around you and others will feel secure. They will be attracted to you because they will feel good around you. Second, do what you’re supposed to do at work. Be responsible, punctual, and have initiative so that the” monster” aka your boss, won’t have anything to complain about you. Third, don’t respond hate for hate; unkind for unkind. This will only fan the fire. Kindness and love are the most powerful tools to melt hate and unkindness. Can you hate someone who smiles at you, that is patient with you, that helps you when he or she sees you in need? Be that person. It is possible to create a nice environment at work and any other place if you have a good attitude and patience. Feel positive, be responsible, and be love.

If you do these three things you’ll begin to change your circumstances. George Shaw put it this way “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this work are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.”

Try this advice, you won’t lose anything, but might gain a better place to work!
