Mexican Mama is busy with the baby, so no post today, but we’ll watch for her next week. Here’s a post of interest though to Moms, tios, sobrinos and pretty much all gente.
Do you remember your family reading you bedtime stories? Do you have any sobrinos or hijos yourself? Well new research shows that almost two-thirds of children want their parents to spend more time reading to them before bed, and most prefer Mama to read over Dad.
The study found that younger children aged 3-4 were most hungry for more stories, with over three-quarters saying they wished their parents read to them more often.
Storytelling ranked higher than television or video games among pastimes for kids, and 82 percent said reading a story with their parents helped them sleep better, according the survey of 500 children aged 3-8 in England.
Over 30 percent of children said they would like to hear a bedtime story from Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, with teen idols Zac Efron, Miley Cyrus and Emma Watson trailing close behind. I don’t know how many Latino ninos, if any, were involved in the study. Everyone knows that we need to improve our kids literacy levels, but for now, what Hispanic celebrity would you want to hear a bedtime story from and which story?
