Yo Quiero Taco Bell…and umm…Weight Loss?

Remember Jared the big guy from the Subway ads who ate his way to a healthy weight with the help of subway sandwiches? Well, meet Christine Dougherty (She’s the one holding a taco) who lost 54 pounds driving to Taco Bell and ordering from their low-fat “Fresco” menu. I don’t think Gidget, Taco Bell’s former four-legged spokesman ever ate from this menu. He would have preferred some Volcano Nachos with a big Chalupa.

It’s all part of Taco Bell’s English-language Drive-Through Diet campaign (www.drivethroughdiet.com). The Taco Bell Web site in Spanish doesn’t mention anything about the campaign.

You can watch a quick video of Chistine share her story and see a few too many pictures of Christine in her bathing suite. It did take Christine two years to lose the 54 pounds and according to the Web site (which has many disclaimers) she also made other sensible choices and she notes that “These results aren’t typical.”

Here’s a link to a coupon for a free Fresco Taco. Do you eat Taco Bell?

And by now you are probably missing Gidget so here’s one of his commercials for you:

I tried a fresco taco the other day and actually liked it. I will definitely order more as I start the diet.
