Tortilla Factory Worker Killed after fall into Mixer in Brooklyn
A 22-year-old tortilla factory worker in Brooklyn died in a freak accident early Monday when he fell into a dough-mixing machine, according to the NYPD. The unidentified man was working at Tortilleria Chinantla in Brooklyn around 2:30 a.m. when he fell into the waist-high tub of the mixer and was pinned by the metal blade, which is not sharp but is powered by a strong motor, according to the New York Times. The half-dozen other workers were unable to save him. No criminality is suspected. The company is the largest tortilla maker in the U.S. and was founded in 1996.
