Video: Smugglers Catapulting Pot Over Border into Rep. Gabby Gifford’s District
Forget the latest technology, drug smugglers along the U.S.-Mexico border are going old-school: very old-school with a catapult. National Guard troops observed it with a remote video surveillance system near the town of Naco last Friday and we’ve got the video for you. Naco is within Representative Gabrielle Gifford’s Congressional district.
Several individuals set up a trebuchet, a type of catapult powered by a counterweight, just south of the border fence, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a news release, according to the Tuscon Sentinel.
Border Patrol agents contacted Mexican authorities, who stopped them before any other drugs were catapulted. Of course no one was arrested, but authorities seized approximately 45 pounds of marijuana, an SUV, and the 3-yard tall catapult on a flatbed trailer.
Naco is about 80 miles southeast of Tucson, just south of Bisbee.Tell us what you think in the comments below or on:
