Sex and the City – Mexico City Subway Style

Some Mexico City subway riders are literally getting a bang for their buck, but sex in this City doesn’t conjure up images of Sarah Jessica-Parker and her fashionable friends. Mexico City subway officials are trying to get a handle on the sky rocketing number of sexual hook-ups happening daily.

To combat all the horny Chilangos, subway officials announced Friday that they will now lock the doors on the last three subway cars after 10:00 p.m. Will this help curb the sex that is happening between men and women, women and women and men and men?

Sex on the subway isn’t new for Mexico City and the last car has long had the nickname “Caja Feliz” or Happy Car. While some people like to read on their commute or listen to music, enough Mexicans are hooking-up that commuters are demanding action.

“Many of the users have complained and we have to do something,” said Carlos Martínez, Chief of the Garibaldi station.

Some of the worst stations include Buenavista, Garibaldi, Oceanía and all the stations from Nezahualcóyotl until Ciudad Azteca.

Where do you think these commuters will go now? City buses? Cabs?

As of Friday the last 3 cars on at least 2 lines were still open. Strangely enough, the stations mentioned in the article are, well…a bit marginal to the city. Based on other reports, one would think stations on the line that crosses the gay hot-spot of the city, the Zona Rosa, would be the most ”plagued”.

Who knew the last three cars were a tourist destination. Maybe the subway should charge more for these routes.

    • Thanks again for the blog article.Really thank you! Really Great.
