Washington Post Passes on Jose Vargas Undocumented Immigrant Story

Washington Post Passes on Jose Vargas Undocumented Immigrant Story

The Washington Post passed on publishing Jose Antonio Vargas’ 4,000 word article, according to a blog post this afternoon from the New York Times.

In the post, Chris Sullentrop, writes that Jose reached out to him about possibly publishing the article after the Post passed. The post reached out to Carlos Lozada, the editor of The Washington Post’s “Outlook” section that originally assigned Jose’s story, for comment. He replied:

Jose Antonio Vargas did approach us with this idea some time ago, and I worked with him on the story for some weeks, with the intention of running it in Outlook. In the end, a decision was made here to pass on it. I’m delighted that the author found such a great home for the piece in the Sunday Magazine at The Times — certainly a fine second choice after The Washington Post Outlook section.

Very energetic blog, I enjoyed that bit. Will there be a part 2?
