Netflix heads South; expands to Latin America & Caribbean
Netflix is getting ready to add to their 23 million current subscribers by heading south and expanding to 43 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, the company reported today on their blog.
Members in the region will be able to access Netflix.com in Spanish, Portuguese or English, depending on their preference, and will be able to enjoy entertainment on their TVs via a range of consumer electronics devices capable of streaming from Netflix, as well as on PCs, Macs and mobile devices, wrote Netflix’s VP of Marketing, Jessie Becker. No specific dates were given, but you can sign-up on netflix.com to be notified when the service launches.
Several comments on the blog post complained about the Netflix interface and also that Netflix is launching Spanish and Portuguese-language services before French-language services for Canada. Netflix had not responded to any of the comments at the time of this post.
With more than 23 million members in the United States and Canada, Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) is the world’s leading Internet subscription service for movies and TV shows. Netflix employs more than 2000 employees.
