Cell Phone Service Disrupted for Los Angeles-area AT&T Customers
UPDATE: AT&T Officials say the problems are not expected to be fixed until 2:30 a.m.
AT&T says technical problems with 800-1,000 of the company’s cell towers are making phone calls difficult for Southern California wireless customers.
A recorded message for AT&T phone subscribers on Saturday says “some customers may be experiencing difficulty making or receiving calls due to technical difficulties in the Los Angeles area.”
The recording says the company would send a text message to customers when the issue was resolved, but customers were still experiencing problems and had not received that text message more than two hours after the outage began.
It was not immediately clear how widespread the problem was, or how many customers were affected.
Many customers took to Twitter to complain about their lack of service. AT&T was among the site’s top trending topics for Los Angeles. The company’s Facebook page wall was also filled with customers asking for answers regarding the outage.
