Manny Ramirez Arrested for Battery in Domestic Dispute
Former World Series MVP and 11-time all-star Manny Ramirez was in custody Monday night charged with battery after allegedly committing domestic violence at his Florida home, reports gossip website TMZ.com.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office said Ramirez, 39, was arrested at his Weston, south Florida, home “on one charge of touch/strike battery stemming from a domestic dispute at the residence.”
He was arrested at 7:00pm and was still being held in jail as of 9:30pm, FOX Sports reported.
TMZ quoted witnesses as saying the Dominican-born former outfielder was removed from his home, northwest of Miami, in handcuffs.
His wife, Juliana, reportedly left the house shortly afterwards and departed the scene in a police car.
Witnesses tell TMZ Ramirez was taken out of his Weston, Florida home at around 7 PM ET in handcuffs. Ramirez’ wife, Juliana, left the house shortly after Ramirez was taken away in the back of a police car.
Ramirez, 39, who played 18 seasons in the majors before signing a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Rays for 2011, retired abruptly this spring after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs for the third time in his career.
Ramirez opted for retirement rather than serve a 100-game suspension for the positive drug test.Tell us what you think in the comments below or on:
