Video: Nadal Wins, but Still Suffers; Collapses during Press Conference
After his win in the 3rd round of the US Open, Rafael Nadal held a Spanish-language press conference. During the conference he suffered cramping in his right leg, after trying to bare it he slowly slid down off the chair onto the floor. The reporters were asked to leave the room; Nadal was given water and ice to help with the pain. After about ten minutes the reporters were let back in the room.
He told them, “I just have cramping in my leg. That’s all.”
Hours before while in the middle of his game with David Nalbandian 7-6 (5), 6-1, 7-5, he took a medical time-out to treat a blister on his right foot. He was able to finish and win his game. It’s unclear if he suffered the cramp because of the blister on his right foot.
