Two Chilean Miners Remember One Year Later from Washington D.C.
Esteban Rojas and Luis Urzura, two of the 33 Chilean miners, are spending the one-year anniversary of their rescue at the Chilean Embassy in Washington, DC and talking about the past year, according to WUSA9.com.
Rojas is one of 33 miners who became trapped 2,300 feet below the surface for nearly 70 days. He is best remembered for proposing to his girlfriend immediately after being rescued and they are now married, reported WUSA9.
“Especially at night sometime it’s more difficult, I don’t sleep. It’s something that is never going to go away,” said rescued miner Esteban Rojas.
Another miner, Luiz Urzua talked about healing after the ordeal.
“When accidents happen, there are people who are able to come out of it better than others” Urzua told WUSA9. “If one of us has a problem, with time, it will heal.”
