Mother of Dominican Terrorist, Jose Pimental, Apologizes to New Yorkers

The mother of Jose Pimentel spoke to reporters Monday and apologized to New Yorkers for her son’s actions, according to the Associated Press.

“I didn’t raise my son in that way,” Carmen Sosa said. “I feel bad about this situation.”

She also praised the New York Police Department, saying, “I think they handled it well.”

His mother said he was raised Roman Catholic. But he converted to Islam in 2004 and went by the name Muhammad Yusuf, authorities said.

The New York Post reports that Carmen Sosa, said, “I don’t know what’s going on. I just want peace. I just want to say I love him. I didn’t raise him that way. He changed.”

“I cannot sleep, it’s hard for you to know what I’ve been through,” she said, adding, “I don’t know him.

“He dropped out of school,” she said. “He’s had a lot of jobs, but he’s not working now.”
