3 shot; 2 fatally in Queens Shootings that ended on a New York City Bus
Update: The New York Daily News reports that “The bus shooting happened 15 minutes after a man was fatally gunned down less than two miles away on Foch Blvd. at Rockaway Blvd. The crimes are linked, cops said.”
Update: 6:20 WNBC reports that the suspect is in custody.
A man is dead after a shooting in a New York City bus Friday afternoon and another man is in critical condition and police are searching for the shooter.
The shooting happened at 3:55 p.m. in Queens in a Q-111 bus on Archer Avenue near 160th street in front of York College, WABC reported. A 29-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with a gun shot wound to the face. A second male was found dead in the rear stairwell of the bus and the body remained in the bus as of 6:00 p.m.
The suspect, described as a 20-year-old man, jumped off the bus and ran off, the Daily News reported.
York College officials told WABC that they are on alert and checking IDs at building entrances.
There were other passengers on the bus at the time of the shooting and a passenger on-board the bus alerted the driver, according to WABC and the driver immediately pulled out and evacuated the bus and pushed the emergency alert button that is found in NYC buses.
