Texas teen, Jakadrien Turner, deported to Colombia Reunited With Her Family
15-year-old Jakadrien Turner, the Texas girl who was deported to South America, reunited with her family Friday night at DFW airport, WFAA-TV reported.
Turner who had run away from home in Dallas was later deported after giving the name of an undocumented immigrant to Houston police when she was arrested for shoplifting.
Jakadrien Lorece Turner left Colombia Friday for the U.S., State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told the Associated Press.
Many facts of the case are still unclear and both U.S. and Colombia officials aren’t taking responsibility for allowing a minor to be deported to a country where she is not a citizen.
Nuland said the case was brought to the State Department’s attention in mid-December.
