WorldView Video: Mexico City Medics Drop Heart on Way to Transplant
A medical team in Mexico City dropped a heart while transporting it to a hospital to a patient waiting for the transplant. The heart fell out of a cooler being pulled by two men after they left a helicopter at the hospital.
The medics picked up the heart using their bare hands and put it back in the cooler and locked it.
Fortunately, the heart was wrapped up within three layers, according to Sky News, and the transplant went ahead with the patient recovering well, according to the surgeon who performed the operation.
The recipient, a 20-year-old female, received the organ from a 24-year-old man who was killed in a car accident, according to Milenio.
