It may not make the Sunday talk shows, but it’s worth reporting that Mitt Romney’s Timeline photo is in violation of Facebook’s Pages Terms, which state that cover image rules which do not permit any type of contact information, such as website URLs, on cover images. Romney’s cover photo, which was updated Friday, features the URL for his website, MittRomney.com (see left image).

Regardless of political affiliation, it would be nice to see the Romney campaign or any other politician playing by the rules that all of us Facebook users have to abide by. Romney’s Facebook recently passed the 2 million “Like” mark.

The Obama campaign cover image, which features President Obama holding a child, follows Facebook’s pages terms (see left image).

According to Facebook, contact information is reserved for the About section (see screenshot below).

The Romney campaign did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
