Video: Charlie Sheen: "I don't wake up feeling Latino. I'm a White guy in America"
Univision’s Maria Elena Salinas interviewed actor Charlie Sheen (born Carlos Irwin Estevez) about his new show, Anger Management, for it’s weekly news magazine show Aquí y Ahora. The clip provided on the company’s YouTube channel focuses on Charlie’s feelings about his Latino roots.
Salinas asked if Charlie was in touch with his Latin roots.
“Yeah a little bit. I don’t know what that means,” Sheen responded.
“Do you feel Hispanic, Latino?” Salinas continued.
“No, not always,” said Sheen. “I don’t wake up feeling Latino. I’m a White guy in America.”
Salinas than asked Charlie if he has any attraction to the Latin culture.
He does: Latin women and Latin food! Charlie also wishes he spoke more spanish, “but there hasn’t been a lot of time lately.”
Can you relate to Charlie and how he feels about being Latino? Do you think some Latin public figures overplay their Latino-ness for profit?
