Erica Menendez Accused of Hate-Crime Murder in 7 Train Subway Push

31-year-old Erica Menendez of the Bronx, is being charged with second-degree murder as a hate crime,
according to the Queens district attorney’s office, according to multiple media reports.
Menendez told detectives, “Pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I’ve been beating them up,” according to WABC.Menendez is accused of pushing 46-year-old Sunando Sen of Corona in front of an oncoming No. 7 train at the 40th Street station in Sunnyside, Queens Thursday night.
Authorities say there were no words exchanged before Menendez pushed Sen onto the elevated tracks as the train approached just after 8 p.m.If Menendez is convicted, she faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
The victim, Sunando Sen, was born in India and, according to a roommate, was raised Hindu, the New York Times reported.
