JLO Covers Up at Concerts in Muslim-Majority Indonesia and Malaysia
“JLo was very cooperative … she respected our culture,” Chairi Ibrahim from Dyandra Entertainment, told the Associated Press. She added that Lopez’s managers also asked whether she could perform her usual sexy dance moves, but were told that “making love” moves were not appropriate for Indonesia.
Lopez is traveling for her “Dance Again World Tour” and performed in the country’s capital, Jakarta, on Friday.
The near-sellout concert comes nearly six months after Lady Gaga was forced to cancel her sold-out show in Jakarta amid an uproar by Islamic hardliners against her costumes and dance moves, CNN noted. A Beyonce concert was cancelled in 2009.
After this weekend’s performance in Muslim-majority Malaysia on Sunday she is off to Singapore and then Australia.
“Thank you Jakarta for an amazing night,” the 43-year-old diva tweeted to her 13 million followers Saturday.
