A man is under arrest after a Sunday night shooting at the Santikos Mayan 14 theater in South San Antonio. Jesus Garcia, 19, was charged with attempted capital murder after he shot at a police car.
The shooting began at a nearby China Garden where the suspect was employed and moved to the theater.
“He was shooting at a marked unit,” Antu said. “He knows he was shooting at an officer so that’s (an) automatic (charge of) attempted capital murder.”
The officer was not hit, but another person in the parking lot was, and was taken to the hospital. The victim has since been released.
Garcia ran into the movie theater, but was followed by an off-duty Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy who shot him four times, officials said.
The deputy was working security at the theater and the department credited her with stopping the violence.

Garcia was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and is expected to recover, officials said.
The Bexar County sheriff’s department have not determined a motive, but said Garcia may have been upset over a breakup with another China Garden employee, KSAT reports.
