4-Alarm Fire Destroys Building on 181st and Amsterdam in Washington Heights -

A four-alarm fire burned through an uptown apartment building Wednesday night in the bitter cold, injuring several firefighters and one other person.
The blaze at 2440 Amsterdam Ave started around 8:10 p.m. and spread to all five floors, NYDailyNews.com reported.
The fire started shortly after an episode started of the new MTV series “The Heights” and several people Tweeted about the fire’s timing and the fire in general:

There were over 150 firefighters at the scene. Extra firefighters were called to the scene because of the cold temperatures, according to WABC.
The fire was finally brought under control just before 11 p.m.
