American Idol contestant Lazaro Arbos opened up more about his life in a video released Friday and reveals his biggest musical inspiration.
The Naples, Florida resident impressed the American Idol judges during Thursday night’s broadcast with a rendition of ‘Bridge Over Troubled
Water’ while sporting his turquoise shirt and purple bow tie.
Why did he decide to try out?
“I love to sing and I was ready to fight for what I loved,” said Arbos.
Arbos loved Mariah Carey, but the biggest performer that inspired him to sing was Selena.
“I have always loved her so much and when she died I was five. I remember I was singing all her songs on my couch,” Arbos said in the video above.
“What makes me unique? That’s a hard question. I’m still finding out. I don’t know what is it, but I just try to be myself.”
Watch the video above to find out what Jennifer Hudson gave Arbos.
Why does Arbos think he will be the next American Idol?
“Because I want to show people they can go ever wherever they can, regardless of their situation might be. Mine was really, really tough, but I’m here”.
