Univision Radio Personality Betty Pino Dies at 63

Betty Pino was a well-known Spanish radio personality.The Ecuadorian native was dubbed “The Queen of Radio” and hosted Miami’s Amor 107.5 FM. Pino was suddenly hospitalized after a bacterial infection overtook her body.She was placed in an induced coma, after doctors tried various treatments. Pino did not make it, much to the shock of her fans.

Pino first migrated to the States in the ‘70’s. She worked as a maid until she found a receptionist position at a radio station. After paying her dues, she became a DJ herself. Pino was the first woman DJ in South Florida. She was best known for hosting a weekly show filled with celebrity gossip and witty banter.

Many fans were saddened by the loss.Her death was announced via Facebook. Celebrities such as Julio Iglesias reached out to her family, and sends condolences. Javier Romero of Sabado Gigante credits Pino for helping start his career. He expressed his love for her on his Facebook page,

“It is extremely difficult to write this, because more than a colleague, she was like a sister to me, I am going to miss her a lot. Let’s all remember her by all those melodies of good music and lovely comments that she gave us.. rest in peace!”

Pino was greatly admired and will be remembered by all.
