Fox Orders New Seth MacFarlane “Bordertown” Animated Comedy Series For 2014

| On 17, Nov 2013

Fox has ordered 13-episodes of “Bordertown,” from Seth MacFarlane, which will focus on immigration and Lalo Alcaraz has signed on as a writer and consultant to the show.

“Over half the cast will [be] Mexican or Mexican-Americas or Chicanos. It will be historic,” Alcaraz wrote on his website. “I know, it’s just a cartoon. But if you know me, you know how I feel about cartoons. They are super important! Cartoons have allowed me to tell truths, to pick fights with the privileged, the greedy and the stupid.”

“Bordertown” is set in a fictitious desert town near the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas and highlights the daily lives of two next-door neighbors.

Bud Buckwald is a Border Patrol agent and father of three who feels threatened by the cultural changes that have taken over his neighborhood. Living next door is Ernesto Gonzales, an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of six. The story lines are unlimited and we’re sure the neighbor’s relationships will cross many paths.

While there was some opposition when the show was announced, Alcaraz defended the show.

“Where did they see any episodes of “Bordertown?” he asked rhetorically on his website. “We haven’t even written the pinche show yet! We just started Monday. Do these people have a Time Machine? May I borrow it? I’d like to meet Zapata.”

Alcaraz continued, “The creator of Bordertown and I have the same goal: To craft a show full of social and political satire about the changing demographic nature of the USA. If you’ve read any of my work in the past, you know that I am not afraid of rude and non-PC material…as long as it has a point.”

MacFarlane will act as the show’s executive producer. The show premiers fall 2014 on Fox.

All we have to say is GOOD LUCK, LALO! WE’LL BE WATCHING!
