JOURNALISM AND MARKETING INTERNSHIPS/PRÁCTICAS DE PERIODISMO Y MERCADOTECNIA NO REMUNERDAS

Dos Lives offers year-round part-time and full-time non-paid internships on our news and marketing teams for people who are passionate about the Latino culture. We’re looking for students or recent graduates with an entrepreneurial spirit and creative story-telling abilities to join to join our team. Whether your interest is covering the music world, politics, tech or anything in-between, we have opportunities for you to gain experience, exposure and networking opportunities.
Priority is given to applicants who apply before the internship deadlines, but applications are accepted year-round. Students of all majors are welcome to apply, however students with backgrounds in public relations, journalism, communications, or marketing are preferred.
Interns will have the opportunity to generate story leads, produce multimedia stories e.g. written, videos, podcasts, etc. Interns will work remotely, but have regular meetings with editors, team members and regular “Lunch and Learn” sessions on a variety of topics to compliment your assignments and classroom experience as well as helping to make you more marketable after graduation. You will be expected to source stories in your region as well as receive story ideas from the assignment desk. The Dos Lives environment is much likes those of a start-up and our interns will gain hands-on experience running the website and pre-production, fieldwork and audio and video editing.
Qualifications
• Strong writing skills are a “must have” for this position
• Functions well within a team dedicated to quality, engaging content
• Experience with digital communications and social media
• Self-starter; independent worker who takes initiative where appropriate and asks for help when needed
• Results oriented
• Experience in web production, publishing and writing for the web
• Experience shooting and producing original video content is preferred.
• Strong news judgment skills will be needed for monitoring the wires, web, and partners for content.
• A knowledge of Spanish language and U.S. Latino/Latin American culture (preferred)

Dos Lives ofrece prácticas profesionales todo el año, de tiempo completo y medio
tiempo, no remuneradas, tanto en nuestro portal de noticias como en el área de
Marketing a personas apasionadas por la cultura Hispanoamericana.
Estamos buscando a estudiantes o recién graduados con un espíritu emprendedor
y capacidad creativa para la narración de historias que quieran unirse a nuestro
equipo de trabajo. Si tienes interés por el mundo de la música, política, tecnología
o cualquier otro tema relevante, te ofrecemos la oportunidad de ganar experiencia,
exposición y trabajo en la red.
Se dará prioridad a los solicitantes que envíen su información antes de las fechas
indicadas, pero las solicitudes se aceptarán durante todo el año. Los estudiantes de
todas las especialidades están invitados a participar; sin embargo, estudiantes con
experiencia en relaciones públicas, periodismo, comunicación o marketing tendrán
preferencia.
Los pasantes tendrán la oportunidad de generar historias, redactar noticias, realizar
trabajos de investigación y producir contenidos multimedia como videos, podcasts,
etc. Los practicantes trabajarán desde casa, pero tendrán reuniones periódicas con
los directores, miembros del equipo y sesiones “Lunch and Learn” regulares sobre
una variedad de temas para complementar su trabajo y experiencia en el aula. Se
espera que sus historias sean originales y de su región, así como también, realizarán
contenido de asignación.
Los pasantes trabajarán en un ambiente donde adquirirán experiencia práctica,
participarán en el manejo del sitio web, pre-producción de noticias, trabajo de
campo y edición de audio y video.
CUALIDADES:
• Destreza y creatividad en la redacción es lo más importante para esta posición.
• Trabajo en equipo dedicado a la calidad y el contenido atractivo.
• Experiencia en comunicación digital y redes sociales.
• Proactivo, independiente, que tome iniciativa y pida ayuda cuando sea necesario.
• Orientado a resultados.
• Experiencia en producción, edición y redacción para la web en audio y video.
• Fuertes habilidades para priorizar noticias y monitoreo de medios de
comunicación como cables, internet, TV, radio y socios de contenido.
• Conocimiento de los idiomas inglés y español, así como también, de la cultura
Hispanoamericana.
FECHAS LÍMITE DE PRÁCTICAS:
Prácticas de Otoño (septiembre-diciembre): 31 de agosto 2011.
Prácticas de Invierno (enero-abril): 20 de diciembre 2011.
Prácticas de Verano (mayo-agosto): 18 de abril 2011.

Non-paid Design and Programming Opportunities
Dos Lives has opportunities for Design and Programming. Part of creating engaging content for our readers includes creative work e.g. photos, artwork, and website layout designs. Dos Lives is a 24/7 operation (with no siestas) and there are programming updates and back-end work needed to keep the site optimized and working properly.
