ecuadorian flag Arrest in Case of Ecuadorian Murder VictimIt was in December when Dos Lives first reported that Ecuadorian José Sucuzhanay, 31, was viciously beaten in an apparent hate crime, and died six days later. Now, one of the suspected killers has been arrested, according to the NYPD during a press conference last night.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he had made a promise to Jose’s brothers at the hospital just before he died that the police would find the brothers’ killers.

“And we are doing exactly what we had pledged to do. That includes bringing José’s killers to justice,” Bloomberg said. “In this city there is no such thing as a second-class citizen. There is one and only one standard of justice for all New Yorkers, immigrant and native-born.
